DESCRIPTION OF POSITIONS

An overview of the organizational structure of the Parish Athletics Program.

Athletic Program Manager
Anthony Reese will serve as the Athletic Program Manager and will be responsible for:

  • Interfacing with Diocese of Raleigh.

  • Organizing and preparing training orientation for coaches and volunteers

  • Managing Sports Coordinators, Parish Athletic Presidents , and the Assignor of Officials.

  • Working with an Athletic Advisory Committee for recommendations and guidance.

  • Preparing expenses for Parish Athletic President.

  • Administering the financial aspects of the program.

  • Collecting sports fees.

Athletic Advisory Committee
This committee is:

  • Made up of volunteers representing many segments of the parish
    communities and various parish athletic programs.

  • Provides various expertise to assist the Athletic Program Manager in financial, medical, and administrative matters.

  • Reviews and formulates athletic policy to promote wholesome, competitive
    sports programs.

  • Ensures compliance with rules within the context of the basic philosophy of Parish Athletics Program and responds to member parishes and their needs.

Secretary
Lori Reese is the Secretary and provides administrative assistance to Athletic Program Manager (developing forms, handbooks, training materials, etc.).

Assignor of Officials
Anthony Reese will initially be acting in this capacity until a volunteer is necessary. This position is the primary contact for the officials’ organization when requesting coverage for games and dealing with protests or other issues.

Sports Coordinator
Anthony Reese is acting in this capacity until a volunteer is necessary. The plan is to have one coordinator for each sport. The individuals are:

  • The primary interface for coaches and Parish Athletic President when dealing with scheduling of games, and changes in scheduling.
  • Assists and advises the Athletic Program Manager with issues.
  • Advises the Program Manager on resources required.
  • Schedules practices, games and tournaments.

Parish Athletic President
The plan is to have one President for each Parish. The individuals are:

  • Responsible to the Parish/School.
  • Provides Athletic Program Manager with Registration Form for their parish providing information on types of sports for the parish, number of teams for each sport, available facilities, and any scheduling conflicts.
  • Responsible for distributing information to the parish from the Program Office (i.e. bulletins, school information packets, and displays).
  • Liaison between Athletics Program Manager, Parish/School officials, Parents, kids, and Coaches.

Coaches and Assistant Coaches
These individuals are volunteers and are:

  • Responsible for attending a training orientation session and signing
    a volunteer covenant.
  • Responsible for coaching practices and games.
  • Complete a volunteer coaches application form to submit to the
    pastor of the parish or designated official.
  • Strongly encouraged to have CPR Certification.

Team Managers
These individuals are volunteers and are:

  • Responsible for attending a training orientation session and signing a volunteer covenant (mentioned above).
